Romantic Places to Eat in Dorset
BridgeHouse - Beaminster

BridgeHouse is a chic 13th Century country town house deep in the heart of Dorset’s Thomas Hardy River Cottage country and close to the Jurassic coast. With fourteen luxury bedrooms including two four posters all with the finest Egyptian cotton linen, Molton Brown and luxury bathrooms, countless couples have chosen the BridgeHouse for an intimate weekend away, dinner or the location for their ultimate expression of true love – their wedding day.
Our great passion is food, with two great restaurants to choose from: if it’s dinner Mediterranean style then our al fresco brasserie with vaulted canopy, overlooking the beautiful walled garden is simply perfect. Alternatively, there’s the cozy, Georgian panelled fine dining restaurant – still unpretentious but full of finery - the perfect match. The 700-year-old BridgeHouse in Beaminster (Tess of the D’Urberville’s, Emminster) simply has an indescribable magic of its own which makes it the ideal lovers retreat.

The food here is outstanding, as is the setting and service. Enjoy a pre dinner drink in the small and intimate lounge before moving on into the restaurant. Last time we were they we were given a cosy and intimate table for 2 by the window -there is also an excellent wine list to complement your meal. - And, why not make the evening even more relaxing and stay the night. Only 6 rooms are available and in their own words each is a piece of art - the eye for detail in each room is superb. www.lesbouviers.co.uk
Shell Bay Seafood Restaurant and Bar - Studland
As the name suggests its seafood on the menu. Quite a trendy, modern setting with the most wonderful view across Poole Harbour and watching the sun go down on a summers evening - - truly romantic. Just a short ride over on the chainferry from Sandbanks to Studland - you can cosy up in the car on the return visit. www.shellbay.net
Sandbanks Hotel - Poole
On the other side of the chainferry is this well established hotel. There is a restaurant and brasserie and both serve up top quality food. Whilst the place is lovely for an evening meal if you get the chance go early or go for lunch or you will miss a truly wonderful view out to sea, you can on warmer days which Dorset has its fair share of,sit on the terrace and watch the comings and goings out of the harbour. To have a drink in the bar is also a lovely experience, for the service and for the views. Be aware that the road to the hotel is also the road to the ferry to Studland - if you find yourself stuck in a queue it will be for the ferry so go around it until you get to the hotel entrance. www.fjbhotels.co.uk/sandbanks
